Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących
I Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Bolesława Chrobrego

The Bolesław Chrobry Comprehensive School is one of the oldest schools in Poland dating back to 1742, yet the most innovative and dynamic school in the province.  It is located in Pszczyna, a town in a highly industrialized region in the south of Poland, which is often called an Upper Silesia pearl owing to its unique picturesque scenery, delightful atmosphere and rich history. 550 students (362 girls and 188 boys), aged 16-19, in 19 classes with 55 teachers comprise the school.
The aim is not only to prepare the students in a number of academic subjects to successfully take the A-level exams and later to study at a wide variety of schools of higher education but also to cultivate the notion of culture, patriotism and good citizenship. The students in our school face various social problems including unemployment (4%), poverty (5%) and alcoholism (8%).
As to the Comenius project, the role of the school is to carry out the objectives effectively and efficiently together with all the other partners. The Comenius project itself is a great opportunity for Polish students and teachers to support them in their learning processes and professional development raising their motivation, achievement and self-confidence, regardless of the hardships they experience.
